How to care for your Shower Cap by Je'Mere

Today’s quick tip topic focuses on the maintenance and storage of your shower cap from Shower Caps by Je’Mere. If you have recently purchased one or are interested in purchasing one, these following tips are pertinent to extending the life of your shower cap and getting the most out of your shower cap!!! Your shower caps are an investment and need a little TLC as well.

Follow these steps to maintain your reversible (RV) & non reversible (NRV) shower caps:
·         RV & NRV. After every use, shake it and let it hang to completely dry. It’s important to hang it up your shower cap so that it maintains its shape and dry properly.

Reversible (RV)
      ·         RV. Wipe both inside and outside the shower cap once weekly using warm water and a mild soap mixture. If you use lots of oils or various other products in your hair, it can leave residue on the inside of your cap. A mild soap and warm water mix can be used as well to remove odors that may accumulate.

Non Reversible (NRV)
      ·         NRV. Every two-three weeks machine wash your shower cap on gentle cycle using mild detergent. Hang to dry. However, if you ordered a NRV shower cap with beads or sequin trim we suggest you hand wash to prevent damaging the trim.

For storage purposes, you have several options. Here are a few we find helpful:
·         When traveling, ensure that your shower cap is thoroughly dry, if not wipe it with a soft cotton cloth (ex. bath towel). Then fold and place in the matching drawstring bag that it came with.

·         After a shower, don’t forget to hang your shower cap. Preferably away from the water. If you are in a household with multiple members (ex. Roommate, kids, husband, wife, boyfriend, etc). The last thing you want is to put on a shower cap that has been soaked by the previous shower occupant.

·         Another option is to place your shower cap over a Styrofoam head (as pictured above) when not in use, to help your cap maintain its shape.

Your Shower Cap by Je'Mere is an investment. Have fun with your shower cap and be sure to use our tips listed above.

Eeeekkkk…Another case of the frizzies!

VS

Does your hair leave you looking like the picture on the left or the right in the mornings?

If you choose left, then you need a sleeping cap. Sleeping on a cotton or polyester pillow case can cause damaging effects on your hair. It is the major cause of frizz, dryness and breakage in hair. The fibers of the pillow case absorb the oils and moisture out of your hair. The fibers can also roughen the cuticle in your hair, which will increase split ends. Consider this…you sleep on that pillow anywhere from 6-8hrs, so that is 6-8hrs of rubbing and friction going on between you and your favorite pillow.

A satin sleep cap is smoother than your pillow case and will allow your hair to retain its moisture. It’s also great for protecting styles overnight. Head scarves and bandannas are helpful, depending on the type of material, but are prone to sliding off while you sleep and flattening your curls. A satin sleep cap will stay on and keep hair protected all night.

You spend several of your hard earned dollars in hair treatments to improve the look and quality of your hair, the last thing you want to do is to reverse all of that progress.

Eye on colors: Spring/Summer 2012

In creating our Spring/Summer collection, I took my inspiration from a photo that caught my eye while browsing online. It wasn't because my favorite singer Beyonce was wearing the colors but it was the way she paired the colors together that gave me the inspiration for a shower cap.

Turquoise being one of my favorite colors pairs nicely with purple but can seem too dark for summer. However, when the two colors are accessorized with gold can add a touch of sparkle and glam!

Pantone colors of the year: Tangerine Tango & Solar Power

The second color of our Spring/Summer shower cap collection came from the 2012 Pantone colors of the year, Tangerine Tango and Solar Power. The two colors simply known as orange and yellow can add a burst of color to any bathroom. Follow the trends without breaking the bank or making a major overhaul to your bathroom by simply accessorizing your bathroom with a Shower Cap by Je’Mere.

We want to hear from you! Tell us, what’s your favorite color of the season.

Do you travel with your shower cap?

How many of you have packed shower caps with you on vacation? Now as weird as it may sound, it’s actually a novel idea. Shower caps can prove to be essential when vacationing.

You’ve purchased your Shower Cap by Je’Mere and have booked your summer vacation but you never thought to pack your shower cap. You check into your hotel room only to find out that they don’t provide shower caps. Now you’re stuck looking for a place to buy a shower cap that may be too small and not your favorite design.

Traveling with your Shower Cap by Je’Mere is easy and will take the hassle out of trying to protect your hairstyle.

Here’s how to maintain your shower cap while on vacation:
©       Prior to packing, let the shower cap air dry or wipe it down with a cotton cloth
©       Fold it up
©       Transport it in the drawstring bag
©       After using it, shake it dry and let it hang to dry completely

Now, for those of you who still can’t part with the plastic disposable shower caps, you can use it to protect/carry certain items. Here are a few suggestions that we found…

©       They’re perfect for covering your shoes that are going to be packed; think about it you want to stuff everything into one bag, but you don’t want the bottom of your shoes against your favorite shirt.

©       Spent the day in the pool filled with chlorine? Use the disposable shower cap to condition your hair overnight while you sleep!

©       Use it to keep loose items from getting tangled while traveling. Hand roll items such as ties, belts, and scarves. Keep them separate by placing them in disposable shower caps.

Jet setters, tell us what are some items that you will never travel without packing in your carryon luggage?

Happy Travels!

2012 is off to a great start

Cheers to the New Year 2012!!!

It’s been a while since our last post. So far, 2012 has definitely been off to a busy start. We started the year by shipping our first international order to Australia for a customer who was tired of sharing her shower cap with her husband. He would shower first, so when she showered the shower cap was wet and she couldn't take it anymore!

Back in February, we were invited by Tionna Smalls to be a vendor at her stylish shop, Lovey's Accessories Boutique in Brooklyn for the Shop & Sip with Olivia from VH1’s Love & Hip Hop. While here, we debuted our Sleeping Caps! Last month we spent a day in New York's fabric district shopping for our spring/summer collections. We will post the finshed products in a few weeks. So stay tuned there's soo much more to look forward to!

Thanks to everyone for their continued support!!!
